Business Challenges
Coca-Cola Femsa is one of the leading companies in the beverage industry, with a significant presence in Latin America. With a constant commitment to quality and innovation, the company operates several production plants throughout the region.
The company faced critical challenges in fuel management at three of its production plants. The need to ensure precise control of fuel stock, monitor the presence of floating fuel in water, and prevent fuel spills became strategic priorities.
Implemented Solutions
Tank Calibration: Initially, tank calibrations were performed to establish conversion tables, allowing for the precise configuration of the tanks on the telemeasurement console. This ensured effective real-time control of fuel stock.
Monitoring of Floating Fuel: At one of the plants located near a river, a sensor system was installed to detect the presence of fuel in water, monitoring the groundwater table. This allowed for continuous monitoring of environmental conditions and the prevention of water pollution.
Spill Prevention: To prevent spills, leak detection sensors were installed in the double walls and Sump Risers of the tanks. Additionally, relays were programmed to generate alerts in case of low or high product levels, automatically activating the associated pumps to prevent critical situations.
Results and Benefits
Precise Stock Control: The implementation of the telemeasurement system enabled real-time control of fuel stock at the three plants, centralising the information, which could be viewed remotely.
Effective Environmental Monitoring: The floating fuel detection system in water helped protect the area surrounding the river, ensuring environmental integrity.
Spill Prevention: The installation of leak detection sensors and the automatic activation of pumps in case of alerts significantly contributed to spill prevention and compliance with environmental regulations.
Conclusion
The LEDA system implemented in Coca-Cola Femsa's plants demonstrated the ability to adapt technological solutions to address specific challenges in fuel management and environmental protection. This case underscores the importance of innovation and prevention in creating effective solutions that not only improve the company's daily operations but also contribute to the care of the natural environment.
